Jay Talking Travel: One Hundred Yards - Two Cultures
Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina is a charming city with a brutal recent past. The city was under siege for 44 months, the longest siege in modern warfare, three times longer than the Battle of Stalingrad. Streets, including the equivalent of Boston's Newbury Street still, bear the marks of mortar fire. Still, life goes on in this very cool town. One of the most interesting features of Sarajevo is a very distinct boundary that separates a Vienna-like European sector from an Islamic sector. There is even a line painted on the street dividing the two cultures. I shot a time lapse video walking down the street to show you how quickly and distinctly the change happens.
