Jaffe Previews Bruins-Blues On Toucher & Rich
BOSTON (CBS) - With a record of 11-8, the 2014-15 Boston Bruins look nowhere near the team of last year that tore up the regular season and finished with a Presidents' Trophy.
Through offseason departures, trades and injuries, the Bruins are merely treading water until they can figure it out, and maybe get some help along the way prior to the trade deadline.
But there is good news on the horizon.
Defenseman Kevan Miller (dislocated shoulder) has been cleared to play, David Krejci (lower body injury) is practicing again and Zdeno Chara (knee), at the moment, does not require surgery.
NESN's Billy Jaffe broke it all down Tuesday morning on 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich show, and then discussed Tuesday night's game against the St. Louis Blues.
The Blues (12-4-1) are one of the best teams in the NHL, and play a very similar style to the Bruins. St. Louis leads the league in goals allowed per game (1.88), which could certainly be problematic for a Bruins team scoring just 2.63 goals per game (18th ranked).
"It's a really good, really deep team," Jaffe said of St. Louis. "They're getting excellent goaltending from [Brian] Elliott and [Jake] Allen -- a veteran and a rookie. And right now [head coach] Ken Hitchcock has got 'em going. They've only lost one game in about a month now. They're definitely flying, they're definitely deep and they definitely have a good defensive crew."
