Jaffe: Bruins Veterans Waiting For Trade To Happen

BOSTON (CBS) - NESN's Billy Jaffe joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Andy Gresh and Scott Zolak in studio Thursday afternoon to discuss the Bruins roster and the changes that may have to be brought forward in order for the team to get back on track.

The B's have been up and down so far this season with long stretches of mediocre play mixed in between, but they do have the potential to make the playoffs as they're currently holding onto the Eastern Conference's eighth seed. But Jaffe is starting to feel like it's too late for the Bruins to make a comeback this season.

"My feeling is the Bruins don't have that opportunity, just like the Los Angeles Kings, to just turn it on with just 20 or 15 games left. I wonder if the veterans are waiting for that trade to happen because they've been waiting all year for that to happen," Jaffe said.

In the past few weeks, there has been several trade rumors surrounding the Bruins.

"'You know deep, deep, deep down inside, we're not bad. We're not great, but we will only have a chance to be great if they bring in somebody else in here," Jaffe said to Gresh and Zolak, regarding the mindset of the Bruins veterans.

Making the playoffs is one thing, but advancing is the ultimate goal, and certainly no guarantee at this point.

The NHL trade deadline is Monday, March 2, 2015 at 3pm ET.
