Jae Crowder Sprains Ankle Against Bulls; No Timetable For Return
BOSTON (CBS) -- Celtics forward Jae Crowder sprained his ankle during the Celtics' 107-100 win over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night. Team officials said he will be out for at least a week.
The Celtics face a major test without Crowder on Thursday night, as they head to Cleveland to face LeBron James and the defending NBA champion Cavaliers. Head coach Brad Stevens was asked about Crowder's injury after the game and said there is no timetable for his return at this point.
"I don't think we're into it enough to make an assessment on that timeline," said Stevens. "It doesn't sound like he'll be back any time soon."
The Celtics are already without big man Al Horford, who was put in the NBA's concussion protocol following a head injury during Monday's practice. Kelly Olynyk also remains out as he recovers from a shoulder injury. Guard Avery Bradley played 39 minutes on Wednesday night after missing Tuesday's practice.
