Investigators Get New Leads After Release Of Sketch In Abby Hernandez Case
CONWAY, N.H. (CBS) – A picture of a mystery man is the latest clue in the disappearance and sudden return of Abby Hernandez.
After meeting with Abby for hours, investigators released a sketch of the man Abby says drove her away the day she disappeared last October.
Investigators say about 20 new leads have come in since Abby returned home Sunday night but otherwise remain quiet concerning what they know about Abby's whereabouts and puzzling re-emergence.
WBZ-TV showed the sketch to several people familiar with the area in question and most said it's just too vague.
Investigators say the man was driving a navy blue pickup truck near a rotary on North South Road in Conway N.H.
It was the middle of the afternoon, and investigators said they're hoping someone remembers something even nine months later.
So far, Abby's family isn't revealing much, but in a text message to WBZ TV Friday, Abby's mom, Zenya, wrote: "I am just trying to live in the moment of her being here. Abby does, too. Happy to be here, alive and happy that God answered our prayers."
Abby is described as "resting, extremely tired and in deteriorated health, and has lost a lot of weight," in a statement on the website created during the search for her.
In the statement, Abby's mom said "Abby is very thin and weak. We continue to work towards getting her to eat."
