20 First Responders Rescue 2 Teens From Ashland Quarry
ASHLAND (CBS) – It took 20 people to save two teenagers from a quarry in Ashland Friday.
Authorities said the teens were trespassing in the Spring Street quarry when one of them hurt his leg and needed help getting out. He was stranded on the ledge of the quarry about 50 feet above the water. Because of where they were, the fire and rescue department had to get creative.
"After an evaluation of the terrain, it was decided that the best and the safest way to extricate the victim was to load him into a Stokes Basket and actually carry him out," said Ashland Fire Department Captain Lyn Moraghan.
The teen was taken to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition.
