Iginla Nets First Goal With Bruins
BOSTON (CBS) - For a split second on Wednesday night, Jarome Iginla thought he had his first goal as a member of the Boston Bruins.
But that was quickly taken away when linemate Milan Lucic broke the news to Iginla that he had in fact tipped the puck passed Buffalo's Ryan Miller, taking the goal away from the 36-year-old before it fully sink in.
"It was maybe a second and a half, but it was good," Iginla said with a smile following Thursday's 2-1 win over the Sharks. "I got 'the feeling.' I remember what it felt like to to feel for a second that it went in.... But (Lucic) kind of sheepishly said he had touched it."

But Iginla wouldn't have to wait too much longer to finally get his first goal in a Bruins sweater. Thursday night in front of the TD Garden crowd, Iginla took a Dennis Seidenberg shot off the boards and snuck it by Shark's netminder Anti Nemmi to stop his scoreless streak at eight games.
"It's been longer than I would have liked, but it sure felt good to get it here at home and in a tight game," he said after the game. "It was a good bounce. It wasn't exactly how I envisioned it, but at this point – or anytime – you take it."
But given what happened on Wednesday, Iginla made sure the goal was his first before getting too excited.
"When I shot it I wasn't sure if it was mine or not," he said. "I was pretty excited when they were pointing that I had gotten it and got the monkey off my back."
It was tough for Iginla, an 11-time 30-goal scorer in 16 NHL seasons, to go scoreless for so long on a new team, but he received some great support inside the Boston locker room.
"All the guys have been great. Playing with Lucic and (David) Krejci, they're playing awesome this year. They keep getting better and better; they're forces," he said of his two linemates. "I'm getting great chances with them and you just want to contribute and get rolling with them."

"We know it's going to come for him," said Lucic. "You could see it's starting to come more and more as every game comes along. Obviously, playing with new linemates, a new system, he's done real well. He's going to keep getting better."
"He's shown that once he gets hot, he gets hot," added Lucic. "Hopefully this one opens up the floodgates for him."
