I-Team: Raymond Wallace's Violent Past
BOSTON (CBS) - Raymond Wallace, the prisoner accused of shooting a sheriff's deputy Wednesday, is no stranger to law enforcement.
In 2011 his criminal record was so bad it caught the attention of WBZ-TV's I-Team when he was paroled from a maximum security prison.
While out on parole in 2011, Salem police say Wallace, heavily armed and wearing a mask, just like one from the Ben Affleck move "The Town," held up a Pet Smart.
He had been paroled from a maximum security prison 18 months earlier.
Wallace walked out of prison in 2009, after serving time for terrorizing Waltham store owner Rick Pizzi during an armed robbery in 2001.
Wallace was wearing a full ninja outfit and had two guns strapped to his back side.
After a bloody gun battle with police, Wallace was sent to state prison for a maximum ten year sentence, but was paroled after eight as the state looked to save money.
Wallace, 36, has been in prison since we last saw him in that Salem court room two years ago.
But you can be sure it was no accident there were two armed deputies watching this guy.
They clearly knew what they were dealing with.
