I-Team: Another MBTA Cop Placed On Leave
BOSTON (CBS) -- The I-Team has learned a third ranking MBTA police officer has been placed on leave in connection with an on going fraud investigation.
Lt. Jerry Collins, a 20 year veteran of the force and head of Special Operations for the T police, was sent home Friday for allegedly destroying evidence connected to the fraud investigation.
Sources tell the I-Team Collins was caught altering his computer work records. Collins was formally in charge of the Internal Affairs unit.
The I-Team first told you about 'no show' details and financial irregularities at the transit police last month.
Officer Anne Marie Collins and Sgt. Michael Lopes were put on leave in the past few weeks.
Sources tell the I-Team Lopes could be guilty of altering computer records arranging to get paid for more than 100 days he never worked.
