Hurricane Rips Roofs Off Waltham Buildings, 25 Families Displaced
WALTHAM (CBS) – More than two dozen Waltham families were forced out of their homes after Hurricane Sandy ripped part of the roof off of their buildings.
The Waltham building inspector checked the damage at Glen Meadow Condominiums and declared the two buildings unsafe.
Residents were riding out the storm in their apartments when they heard a crashing sound.
"It was a loud thumping sound as something was blown away and we could immediately see chunks of wood falling all over the building," said one man.
"We heard a loud sound and then there was insulation falling out," said another resident.
There were 25 families who gathered their things and left the two buildings.
There is no word on how much damage was done or when they will be able to return to their homes.
