Hurricane Irene: Massachusetts Ready For Eye Of Storm
BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts is ready for Irene.
A spokesman for the state Emergency Management Agency says resources are deployed around the state, utilities are prepared to deal with power outages, and the National Guard is poised if called upon when Hurricane Irene strikes the state Sunday.

The storm is currently predicted to track through central Massachusetts but that could change.

Spokesman Peter Judge says no matter where Irene hits, the entire state will be affected.

Areas west of the storm will get flooding, while areas east will get damaging winds of 50 to 60 miles per hour.

The National Weather Service has issued a hurricane watch for much of the state.
