Hurricane Irene: Preparations Underway

BOSTON (CBS) - Hurricane Irene is on track to be the first hurricane to hit New England in 20 years. A Hurricane Warning is now in effect for the South Coast and Cape Cod. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the rest of Massachusetts.

Communities across the state are preparing for the severe weather.

Boaters were scrambling to get their boats out of the water on the South Coast.

The Coast Guard was out Friday warning boaters to get out of the water.

The eye of the hurricane will likely go right over Central Massachusetts. That will include towns that were hard hit by the June 1st tornado. The towns now have to interrupt their cleanup, to prepare for Irene.
