Hunt is on for bike rack theif

It's not bicycles that are being stolen in Woonsocket - it's the entire bike rack.

Police say two of the 10 creative and colorful bike racks installed around the city last month as a community service by the Our Neighborhoods community improvement project have disappeared so far.

Police say the thefts are under investigation but there have been no arrests.

Project organizer Dawn Camara tells The Call of Woonsocket the unique racks are valued at $250 each, but that cost does not reflect the time and effort needed to create them.

Police Lt. Eugene Jalette says they do not think the racks were stolen for their scrap value, which is minimal, but are treating the case as an act of vandalism
