SALISBURY (CBS/AP) -- A beloved Salisbury firefighter who died in a tragic accident was laid to rest on Thursday.
Hundreds of friends and family members turned out for the funeral Mass of Lt. Timothy Oliveira at St. Joseph Church of Holy Family Parish in Amesbury,
WBZ-TV's Sera Congi reports
Oliveira, a department mechanic, was a 27-year veteran who died at a Boston hospital Sunday from injuries suffered Friday when a fire truck he was working on fell on him when the jack malfunctioned.
At the funeral, the pastor said he wished he could offer answers for such a tragic loss.
"We would give anything to go back and time and erase the events of July 29th," he said. "This tragedy seems like a nightmare a nightmare that has plunged us into a sea of darkness and we just cannot seem to wake up from."
