Hundreds Rally In Boston For Improved Wages For Farm Workers
BOSTON (CBS) - Hundreds demonstrated in Copley Square on Sunday, rallying for improved wages and working conditions for farm workers who harvest tomatoes in Florida.
Members of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers urged Stop & Shop, and its parent company to pay an extra penny per pound for tomatoes to ensure better working conditions and wages in the Florida fields.

"One more penny per pound will practically double the wage of the farm worker, which currently right now is anywhere between $7,500 to $10,000 per season," said Luis Gomez, one of the rally organizers.
A Stop & Shop spokeswoman said the chain buys tomatoes at market prices from their suppliers, and it's not their place to enter into waged negotiations with their suppliers.
