Google Searches For 'How Can I Move To Canada' See Huge Bump On Super Tuesday
WASHINGTON (CBS) – The trajectory of the race for president in the United States has some people thinking about fleeing the country.
A Google data editor said just after midnight that searches for "how can I move to Canada" spiked over 350 percent as Super Tuesday results came in.
Voting in a dozen states on Tuesday solidified the frontrunner status of both Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton for their parties' respective nominations.
Others wondered if the Canadian government's website was experiencing delays Wednesday morning because of all the interest.
American voters have been known to threaten to pack up and leave for Canada if their candidate of choice doesn't win. But this year, some Canadians have been actively encouraging such a move.
A radio host on Cape Breton Island in Novia Scotia made a website last month welcoming Americans to move there if Trump were to win the presidency.
