Hot Takes With Bob Socci: Geno Smith 'A Complete Embarrassment To Professional Football Players'

BOSTON (CBS) - Patriots radio play-by-play man Bob Socci joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Felger & Massarotti in studio Friday afternoon to offer up some hot sports takes!

If you're noticing a common theme with Bob Socci on Felger & Mazz, it's that he has a lot of respect for the opponents.

The Patriots, for one game anyway, appeared to right the ship after beating the Bengals handily on Sunday Night Football, but despite this perceived turnaround he's not taking the Bills lightly.

"Are they a good team in comparison to the other top teams in the NFL? Maybe not yet, but certainly they have a lot of individual talent at positions other than quarterback, which has been an issue for them for awhile. They have a good group of young skill players, speed at wide receiver; Sammy Watkins is very dynamic. They have two good dual threat running backs. The offensive line seems to be improved, and we know about the defense. The one area where they were deficient last year against the run, they're now much better," said Socci.

You just know the Bills, and former Patriot linebacker Brandon Spikes, have had this game circled on the calendar for awhile. The team announced its new ownership group this week, which vowed to keep the team in Buffalo, so there's a lot of reasons to be happy about the Bills, who are currently atop the AFC East.

Mazz is worried about the matchup, and thinks the defensive front can give the Patriots o-line fits.

He's right, and Socci agrees.

"What concerns me is about the possible absence, and unlikely absence of one of those young guys who made his second start, and really helped solidify things on the offensive line," Socci said in reference to Bryan Stork.

"We were so encouraged in the wake of Sunday night's game about the performance of the offensive line, thinking that these are the five players you can go forward with now that you have some continuity. But with Bryan Stork out of practice today in limited participation, it certainly raises the question that he could be out. We'll find out tomorrow. That concerns me because Kyle Williams and Marcell Dareus -- their two defensive tackles -- they're fantastic."

After analyzing Patriots-Bills, Bob Socci provided Felger & Mazz with some blazing hot sports takes, including a takedown of Jets quarterback Geno Smith, head coach Rex Ryan and more.
