The records for the day - 98  in 1930 for Boston and 94 in 1930 for Worcester.  Boston is not a likely record-breaker, but Worcester has a shot.

There will be a cold front with weak upper level support sagging southward this afternoon and evening. Due to its timing and location, there will be a chance of a few showers and storms which will produce heavy downpours for some backyards.

Tonight, the rain will dissipate early, and the sky will become mostly clear/partly cloudy.  Lows near 70 will not provide much relief.

THIS WEEKEND

Saturday will be a partly cloudy day with a slight chance of a midday/afternoon shower or storm.  Highs will be near 9o and 80's @ the coast.

Sunday will be a mixture of clouds and sun with a chance of late-day storms, especially north and west.  We will also need to watch moisture streaming northward from the Carolina coast. This may provide more clouds for southeastern Massachusetts as well as a brief shower or two as early as the late morning hours.

Highs will still be very warm as they climb into the 85-90 range, but it will be cooler @ the South Coast/Cape/Islands.

Overall, it's going to be a great weekend to enjoy the local beaches or head out on the boat.

More widespread showers and storms, including heavy rain, are expected Sunday night through Monday afternoon.

This cold front will be offshore by Monday evening opening up the gates for more refreshing air to work its way into New England on Tuesday.

T.S. Ernesto has weakened slightly, but it's forecast to increase in strength over the next 48 hours.  Tropical storm warnings are in effect for Dominica, St. Lucia, Martinique, and Guadeloupe.

Happy FRRRiday!
