Hot & Humid

A stationary front is pushing northward as a warm front. Geographically, this places us in the 'warm sector' of this midlatitude cyclone.

It's cloudy and foggy in spots to start to your Tuesday. Stronger storms have occurred overnight across Western and Northern New England.  Dewpoints will be in the middle and upper 60s today giving us that 'humid' feel.  Winds will begin with a southeast orientation before shifting to the south-southwest during the afternoon. Highs will reach the lower to middle 80s for nearly the entire viewing area. The exceptions will be the Islands in the 65-70F range while Cape Ann/Cape Cod will be in the 68-75F range.

A cold front early on Wednesday will be followed by a secondary cool shot of air later in the day. Showers and storms will be departing the Cape/Islands early on Wednesday morning while midday will include partly cloudy to partly sunny skies. Then, a risk of showers and storms will begin during the afternoon hours with this second shot of cool air combined with the insolation/daytime heat.

The passage of the frontal boundaries will allow for a more comfortable air mass to move into New England.   Thursday will include sunshine along with some diurnal clouds that will develop during the heat of the day. Highs will be near 80F...cooler Cape/Islands.

Friday (JUNE 1...the beginning of the Atlantic Hurricane Season) will be mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70s.

This Weekend:  A storm system heads our way Friday night. The models are slightly different in terms of the timing of the rain. So, there will be a chance of storms starting midday Saturday through the evening hours as a cold front moves across Southern New England.  An upper level low on Sunday will induce diurnal clouds as well as a chance of a few afternoon showers, especially for Northern New England.

This week's night sky ... The moon will go from the first quarter phase into a waxing gibbous phase by week's end.
