Horton Doesn't Want To Talk About Future

BOSTON (CBS) - Nathan Horton is about to become a free agent, but that's the last thing on the forward's mind.

"I'm not even going to talk about it. If you want to talk about it you can call my agent," Horton said Wednesday as the Boston Bruins cleaned out their lockers at the TD Garden. "We just play hockey and that's all we worry about. Sooner or later, it's going to get taken care of."

Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli told Horton  -- who will hit the open market on July 5 -- that the team would like to have him back if it works under the new, lower salary cap. Boston has to re-sign goaltender Tuukka Rask, and after telling Jaromir Jagr and Andrew Ference they will not be back, will have just under $10 million (once they place Marc Savard on the long-term IR) to sign Rask, Horton, and another forward.

"We told Nathan that we'd like him back if we can work it out," Chiarelli said on Wednesday.

CSNNE.com reported on Wednesday that Horton is looking for a five to six-year deal worth up to $6-million per season -- a figure he should be able to get on the open market.

But Horton has said he would like to return to Boston, and repeated that sentiment on Wednesday.

"I have enjoyed my time here; two of the three years I've been here we've been to he Stanley Cup. I've said a million times that the guys in the room are amazing," said Horton. "It's been a lot of fun and I enjoy every player on the team."

In his three seasons in Boston, the 28-year-old Horton has 56 goals and 51 assists in 169 regular season games, with 15 goals and 21 assists in 43 playoff games.
