Hopkinton Reverses Suspension For Boy Who Brought Toy Gun To School
HOPKINTON (CBS) - A Hopkinton school has reversed a decision to suspend a 5-year-old boy who brought a toy gun to class earlier this week.
The interim school superintendent decided to lift the suspension after a meeting with the boy's mother, Christina Stone, Friday.

Stone had appealed the decision by administrators at Center School to suspend her son Jonah for a half-day over the incident. She said she was unaware Jonah had put the toy in his pocket before going to his kindergarten class on Wednesday.
However, she felt administrators overreacted because her son only wanted to share the toy with a friend.
"This needs to stop happening all across the country. People need to stop being afraid of their own shadows," Stone told reporters Friday afternoon after the meeting.
"I'm glad that they at least talked to me about this, with a little bit of common sense. These are not weapons, they are toys and kids, frankly, shouldn't be punished for this."
Center School will update its parents' handbook officially banning toy guns in the school.
