Homes Of Springfield Firefighters Damaged In Tornado Outbreak
SPRINGFIELD (CBS) - While Springfield firefighters were out responding to storm calls and saving buildings from collapse, several of their own homes came crashing down in the tornadoes.

"Four members' houses got damaged, three of them actually got condemned. One member lost two of his automobiles, and so they had direct impacts.

David Wells, the president of Firefighters Local 648, said fellow firefighters and neighbors have banded together to help the members who lost their homes.

"Believe it or not, I had to hold guys off. They wanted to converge on these houses and build them from the ground up like yesterday, but I said, 'Hey, we gotta hold off until the insurance adjusters come in.' But they're in good hands. It's really amazing to see neighbors helping neighbors," said Wells.

Power has been restored to the majority of those Massachusetts residents who lost electricity during last week's severe weather.
