Homeland Security Chief Heading To Mass.
BOSTON (AP) - U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is traveling to Massachusetts to launch a new initiative to help keep the transit system safe and highlight the role of science and technology in securing the nation.
Napolitano is scheduled to join Lt. Governor Timothy Murray, state officials and MBTA executives in Boston on Monday to unveil a new public awareness initiative designed to encourage citizens to help keep the transit system safe and secure.
Napolitano is then expected to head to Cambridge, where she will meet Massachusetts Institute of Technology students and deliver a speech. It is part of the MIT Compton Lecture series about the role science and technology play in keeping America safe and secure, and the importance of public service.
