Pro Women's Hockey Player Injured In Winter Classic Remains In Hospital

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Boston Pride forward who was injured during the Women's Outdoor Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium on December 31, 2015 remains hospitalized at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Denna Laing, 24, was taken off the ice on a stretcher during the game, after several minutes laying against the boards behind the goal as trainers rushed to help her.

Laing has also worked for the Essex County District Attorney's office as a Victim Witness Advocate since June 2014. Essex DA Jonathan Blodgett released a statement about Laing Wednesday afternoon.

"She is a bright, conscientious and hard-working member of my staff and is well-liked and admired by all who work with her," said Blodgett. "I speak for all of Denna's co-workers in praising her compassionate approach to serving crime victims and their families as well as her willingness to help her fellow employees."

"I have every confidence that Denna will face the recovery process with the same upbeat attitude and determination that she brings to her work," he continued. "I can also assure Denna and her family that they will not face this challenge alone and the members of the Essex District Attorney's Office family stand with her and are rooting for her."

There has been no information yet on the extent of Laing's injuries.
