Hingham Man Arrested For Planning Sex With Teen
ULSTER, N.Y. (CBS) -- A 58-year-old man from Hingham is under arrest and charged with trying to have sex with a teenager.
Daniel Gillen is charged with attempting to disseminate indecent material to a minor and attempting to unlawfully deal with a child.
Police say their investigation started in July of 2009 when a deputy with the Ulster County Sheriff's Office in New York posed as a 14-year-old girl and started chatting with Gillen in an AOL chat room.
There were several chats over a year and a half, say officers, adding that in that time he sent a pornographic image, sent a link to a pornographic website and talked about meeting with the teen to have sex.
Gillen was arrested Friday at the Hudson Valley Mall in Ulster where police say he planned to meet what he thought was the 14-year-old girl. When he was taken into custody officers found he had two Viagra pills and wine coolers.
Ulster County is approximately 90 miles north of New York City.
