High School Janitor On House Arrest Over Alleged Photo Of 11-Year-Old Girl In Lowell
LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — A longtime high school janitor charged with trying to take a photo under the skirt of an 11-year-girl at a Lowell festival has been placed under house arrest.
A judge on Wednesday allowed 58-year-old Thomas Withers of Foxborough released without bail with GPS monitoring. He was also ordered to have no unsupervised contact with anyone under age 16 and stay out of Lowell.
Prosecutors say Withers tried to take the photo last weekend but the girl's father saw him and stopped him.
Police say they found 17 upskirt photos and 20 videos on his cellphone. His lawyer said his client did not take the images, but downloaded them off the Internet.
Withers, a longtime janitor at Norton High School, has pleaded not guilty to several charges.
