Heyman With Gresh & Zo: Valentine Vs. Youkilis

BOSTON (CBS) - CBS Sports' MLB Insider Jon Heyman joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Gresh & Zo on Tuesday, with Bobby Valentine still the hot topic.

Over the weekend, Valentine called out third baseman Kevin Youkilis' effort.  Heyman was at Fenway for Boston's series against the Rays, what did he think of Youk?

"He didn't look as into it as I've seen him in the past," Heyman said with a chuckle, making light of Valentine's comments.

"I understand people are going to be up in arms," he said, which included Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia who backed Youkilis Monday morning. "We all love Dustin Pedroia, no matter what side you're on from Francona to Valentine...  I think we have to understand they had Francona here for eight years, and he's a real players manager with very relaxed rules, and they took advantage."

"So they have a guy in here who is not going to be as relaxed. If there is something to be said, he's going to say it," Heyman said of Valentine. "

"What he said isn't really that outrageous when you get down to it. I know when you say he isn't into it, that translates into him not being committed. That makes it a little worse. It's not something we hear every day, but I don't think it's as outrageous an opinion."

"I think it's him trying to motivate people," said Heyman. "He may have just given his honest opinion; he may be upset with what he's seen from Youkilis so far. He's probably used to seeing him on TV with a real intense look to him, and maybe he hasn't seen that to this point."
