Heyman On Gresh & Zo: Papelbon's Suspension And Playoff Predictions

CBS Sports Baseball Insider Jon Heyman appeared on 98.5 The Sports Hub's Gresh and Zolak Show Tuesday afternoon to discuss a whole host of topics around Major League Baseball, starting with Jonathon Papelbon's suspension.

Papelbon was suspended for seven games after his crotch-grabbing gesture during a game and an umpire confrontation.

"It's a family game, and you shouldn't do that," Heyman said. "Seven games is probably fair, it might be a little on the light side."

Afterwards, the guys got into a discussion about the playoffs -- something the Red Sox won't be participating in for the fourth time in five years.

Heyman discussed his predictions for how he sees things shaking out down the stretch.

When asked about the American League playoff hunt, Heyman picked Oakland and Kansas City as his two wild card teams, leaving Seattle out. That would make the Detroit Tigers and L.A. Angels divisional winners, with the Orioles coming out of the East division.

Heyman talked about the possibilities for some regional matchups for the World Series this year.

"Well we have a few inter-area matchups," he said. "We still have the possibility of a Dodgers-Angels matchup. We still have the possibility of Washington-Baltimore. We still have the possibility of a Bay Area matchup."

However, he thinks the "Freeway Series", between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim could be the most interesting. Gresh asked if it's better to have two polarizing individuals such as Mike Trout and Bryce Harper on the field in the Fall Classic or the two best teams.

"I think Trout-(Clayton) Kershaw would be more interesting to people than Trout-Harper," Heyman said.
