Help Wanted: Job Openings For 2 Federal Judges

BOSTON (AP) - It's a tough job market out there, but at least two vacancies are up for grabs in Massachusetts, provided candidates have the right qualifications to be federal judges.

U.S. Sen. John Kerry says the non-partisan Judicial Selection Committee is now accepting applications for two upcoming judicial vacancies at the federal district courts in Springfield and Worcester.

Last month, as his first appointment as senior senator, Kerry tapped Massachusetts attorney Joan Lukey to lead the selection committee. The head of the committee is traditionally appointed by the state's senior senator.

Kerry says Lukey is already conducting a search to identify the best legal minds in Massachusetts to recommend to President Barack Obama.

Kerry says any interested candidates for the jobs should contact Lukey.

Applications are due by May 16.
