The heavy rain forced some temporary road closures in the Boston area on Tuesday.
Motorists are being advised to avoid driving into areas where water is covering the roadway because it might be difficult to gauge the depth of the water.
A flash flood was posted through 8 p.m. for much of southern New England.
The wild weather also brought strong winds. In Tewksbury, falling trees took down power lines forcing the closure of Route 38.
