Heat Wave Boosts Business On NH Seacoast
PORTSMOUTH, NH (CBS) - A major heat wave has meant a major boost for businesses on New Hampshire's seacoast.
At Water Country, a water park in Portsmouth, it meant three straight days of big crowds. That was a welcome relief after a summer that so far has had too many 60 degree days.
"It wasn't really water park weather just yet, with the cool breezes, and all of a sudden the temps went up and it was perfect Water Country weather," said spokeswoman Danielle Barry.
When temperatures began to soar Wednesday, it was like someone flipped a switch for seacoast businesses.
The Beach Plumb, an ice cream stand and restaurant across from North Hampton Beach has been packed.
"It's been really, really busy with the sun and the hot weather. The hot weather's been bringing people out," said manager Debbie.
Ice cream was melting almost as fast as the customers and owners say two more months of this hot weather would be perfect.
