BOSTON (CBS) - It's not your imagination, the flu season is off to a bad start.
According to the Department of Public Health, in the next to last week of December 2012, there were more than 1,400 confirmed cases in Massachusetts.
At the same point last year, there were just 21.

Dr. Robert Colgrove of Mount Auburn Hospital says it is the worst season they have seen in many years and their emergency room has been very busy.
"There were literally people lined up in the hallway with masks on. This is a big year for flu," Colgrove told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens.
Even those with the flu vaccine are getting sick.
"So far, the circulating strand of flu looks like the vaccine but we're seeing a lot of people who get sick, who get positive flu tests even though they are vaccinated," he said.
