Hardy & Trupiano With Jeff Howe: Will We See Welker Or Haynesworth?
The Patriots take on the Giants tonight at Gillette in the 4th and last preseason this year.
Jeff Howe joined Hardy & Trupiano, who were filling in for Toucher & Rich, to talk about this last preseason game, the final cuts and who we could see tonight.
Wes Welker hurt his neck in Detroit while making a tackle. Will he be cleared to play tonight?
"I would probably be a little surprised if he played. I think it would be more of a precaution to keep him out than anything," were Howe's feeling on the matter.
The guys then moved on to a player that we have no yet see take any reps in the first 3 preseason games, Albert Haynesworth. Will we get our first glimpse of him in a game tonight?
"That's another really good question. I don't really know if he's really going to play or not, but I think at this stage it would be good for him to get some reps," Howe told the guys.
They also discussed some of the cuts that took place earlier this week, namely the cut of James Sanders. How did Howe feel about the cut of Sanders? What did he think of the Patriots just releasing him instead of trying to trade him and get something in return?
Some players will be battling for a spot on the 53 man roster and tonight is their last chance to prove themselves. What are some of the battles that we might see going on tonight?
The guys also talked about rookie Nate Solder. Is there any chance that the Patriots move him inside to right guard? That and so much more with Jeff Howe.
