Hang On...
A powerful late Summer storm that looks more like an Autumn storm is barreling through the region tonight. Out ahead of it the air is warm and tropical thanks to gusty southerly winds. These winds will continue to ramp up through the evening and gusts over 40 mph will be very common.
The worst of the storm will be from Midnight to 4AM...that's when the coldfront and its associated squall line will rip through from West to East. Along it there will be torrential rain amounting to 1-3". This will all fall in a few short hours so pockets of street and parking lot flooding will be likely. This line will be out of here and offshore by the morning commute so the puddles will be drying up during the ride.
The wind will be the biggest player...we have a High Wind Warning until 6AM tomorrow morning as gusts could exceed 50 mph. This will result in a mess with trees, branches and debris all over the place. The wind will quickly die down as it shifts into the NW behind the front by 7AM.
There will also be some minor coastal flooding for south-facing beaches and coastline between 10PM and 2AM around the time of high tide.
The storm will stall offshore for the second half of the week but it will be far enough away to keep us mainly dry and seasonable through the start of the weekend.
