Haggerty With Toucher & Rich: Bruins 'Playing Up To Their Potential'
Tonight we find out which team is moving on and which one's season is over as the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals battle it out in Game Seven.
Comcast SportsNet New England's Joe Haggerty spoke with Toucher & Rich about this Bruins-Caps series, Jordan Caron, the health of Patrice Bergeron, Tim Thomas and if the B's survive this round.
Many will be stressed as they sit and watch this Bruins team fight for their playoff lives. How does Haggerty read this B's team right now?
"They're finally, sort of getting their footing as far as playing up to their potential."
"Usually in a seven game series the better team will end up winning in the end. The better team will end up winning in a situation like this and I think that's what it comes down to."
Claude Julien sat Shawn Thornton for Game Six and put Jordan Caron in. Why does Haggerty think the head coach went with Caron over Thornton the other night?
"Obviously they were looking for a little bit more offense and that was part it, but I think the bigger reason was they weren't sure what they were going to get out of Patrice Bergeron. If Bergeron was hurt and couldn't go and let's say he went two shifts and he was done for the night and he couldn't go on or something happened early in the game and knocked him back out, they were going to need somebody that was going to be able play that sort of top six forward role."
There were some questions about the status of Bergeron after he didn't take many face offs and didn't practice on Tuesday.
Julien made it very clear that number 37 would indeed be ready to play Game Seven. What's going on with Bergeron and what will his role be in this pivotal game?
"I would think he's probably going to do exactly what he did in Game Six. I'm assuming it's some kind of shoulder, wrist, upper body thing, that's usually the kind of injury that will preclude you from taking face offs and keep you out of the circle."
Plus what does Haggerty think about Tim Thomas' play this series and is there anything Haggs can say to ease the worriers?
