Guns Seized From Haverhill Man's Home After Road Rage Incident

HAVERHILL (CBS) – A Haverhill man has been arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at a woman during a road rage incident. When police went to arrest him, they found a small arsenal of weapons.

Police say on Monday morning, 64-year-old Dennis Bebar abruptly stopped his car on Primrose Street and the woman behind him swerved around him to avoid a collision.

For some reason, police say Bebar was furious and followed her to her downtown apartment in an old factory, and dished out some profanity-laced insults.

But when she wise-cracked, "nice road rage darling!" witnesses say the confrontation got uglier.

Police say Bebar whipped out a pistol stuck it in the woman's face and threatened to kill her before he sped off.

Responding officers quickly ran his plate number and the terrified victim and witness picked Bebar out of a photo lineup.

But the adventure wasn't over because when police went to Bebar's Haverhill home to arrest him, they seized 9 pistols and rifles and 3500 rounds of ammunition.

Bebar is charged with improperly storing the guns and assault with a deadly weapon. Bebar claims the gun was sticking out of his pants but he never actually grabbed it.

His permit to carry a concealed weapon has been revoked and he remains in jail pending a dangerousness hearing Thursday.
