Gunman Fires Shots, Robs Malden Pizza Shop
MALDEN (CBS) - When a man burst into a Malden pizza place Thursday night waving a pistol, workers initially thought he was joking.
"When I first saw the weapon, I thought it was a toy," Walter Canales, a cook at Classic Pizza, said. "It's like a shock. You never think it's going to happen to you."
When Canales and two co-workers ignored the man's demand for cash, he fired a shot into the ceiling.
"He shot the ceiling right next to us. Then, once he shot the ceiling, he pointed the gun at me and demanded (that I) open the register," Canales said.
As a cook, Canales doesn't have access to the register. A co-worker was able to get it open.
