City, State Leaders Unveiling Boston Gun Control Billboard
BOSTON (AP) — Gun control advocates in Boston are unveiling their latest billboard on the third anniversary of the Newtown massacre.
Massachusetts House Speaker Robert DeLeo and Boston Police Commissioner William Evans are attending Monday afternoon's reveal.
Stop Handgun Violence says the billboard will honor victims, highlight Massachusetts' gun laws and urge Congress to follow the state's lead.
The gun control group has been behind some of the most attention-grabbing billboards in Boston, with its perch overlooking Massachusetts Turnpike by Fenway Park.
The billboard came down recently when the parking garage under it was sold. The new billboard will be located across from the Hynes Convention Center.
Twenty children and six adults were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, by a lone gunman on Dec. 14, 2012.
