Guide To The Boston Opera House
The Boston Opera House first opened in 1928 as the B.F. Keith Memorial Theatre. Edward Franklin Albee constructed the theater to memorialize his late partner Benjamin Franklin Keith.
The theater originally showed films and the odd show. Now, the Opera House is home to the Boston Ballet and several Broadway performances.
The Opera House underwent at $50 million restoration that was completed in 2004.

The Opera House is off Route 93 and the Mass. Pike.
Parking:
There are several parking garages near the Opera House.
The Lafayette Parking Garage at the Hyatt Regency Boston, located at 1 De Lafayette Ave.: Parking here is $12 when you arrive after 4 p.m. In order to get this discount, you must pre-pay and show your Boston Opera House tickets.
The Millennium Place Garage at the Ritz-Carlton Boston Common, located at 47 Boylston Street. This is a self-parking facility. If you want valet parking, enter the garage through the Avery Street entrance.
The Boston Common Garage, located at Zero Charles Street.
75 State Street Garage, located at 75 State Street, next to Faneuil Hall Marketplace. The garage entrance is on Broad Street.
Public Transportation:
The Opera House is also accessible by public transportation. There are several ways to get there using the "T". The Opera House has very detailed directions on its website.
WHAT TO SEE
The Opera House is home to the Boston Ballet and features several Broadway shows, such as Wicked and Mary Poppins.
Tickets can be purchased at the Boston Opera House Box Office, which is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 30 minutes after the curtain goes up. On Sunday, the box office is open from noontime until 30 minutest after curtain. Tickets for the Boston Ballet can be purchased at the box office Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Opera House does not sell tickets through their website.
If you want to buy your tickets online, it is suggested you do so through each show presenter's website. (Example: If you want to buy tickets to a show the Boston Ballet is performing, visit the Boston's Ballet's website. If you want to see Wicked, go to Broadway Across America's Web site.)

It is not everyday that you spend a night on the town, so why not treat yourself to a nice dinner before a show. Locke-Ober is minutes away from the Opera House. The menu is a bit pricey, but the food is great and the dining room resembles an old boy's club.

After the show, head to Mantra for a few drinks. Mantra is about two blocks from the Opera House, so there is no cab needed. Mantra has a long list of marinis, and several fun cocktails. It's a great way to end the night!
