Guide To Painting Classes In Boston

Are you looking for a creative outlet, or a chance to brush up on your painting skills? There are places in and around Boston where you can sign up for different types of painting classes. All the classes are in week-long bunches, so check back with each school often. - Lori Lennon

The Museum of Fine Arts has painting classes for children, teens and adults. The classes are run by a museum faculty of experienced artists and art educators. But painting courses are not the only classes offered. The MFA also offers workshops for drawing, sculpture and printmaking and much more. The classes vary from one-time only classes to courses that span over several weeks. Members of the museum get discounts on all classes.

The Eliot School offers several painting classes for people of all ages. They even have classes for 2 to 3-year olds. Classes offered include acrylic painting, fashion illustration, paintings basics and painting the new landscape.

Whether it is watercolors you are interested in or you are looking for an introduction to painting, all the classes are available through the Brookline Adult & Community Education program. Classes are held throughout the day, so you should be able to find a class time that will fit your schedule.

The Boston Center for Adult Education also offers painting classes, but there are not as many available, compared to other programs in the area. Artists can take classes in acrylic painting, oil painting and watercolor.

The Cambridge Center For Adult Education

Much like the BCAE, the Cambridge Center for Adult Education does not offer many painting classes, but their courses are a bit more unique than ones offered elsewhere. Some of the art classes include drawing and painting architecture in the landscape, watercolor courses and a class on decorative floor cloth painting.
