Guide To Boston Food Stores That Sell Alcohol
Massachusetts is funny with its liquor laws, particularly regarding where wine and beer can be sold. While some grocery stores sell spirits, others don't. Shaw's
Most, if not all, of the Shaw's stores in Boston sell wine and beer in the store. The selection is generally pretty good, too. Technically these are separate, small businesses in the bigger store. You will need to check out separately from your groceries, so be prepared to spend a few extra minutes at a register.
Trader Joe's
Trader Joe's is notorious for selling cheap, but good, wine. It also has a fair variety of beers. The selections change from store to store, and there is more than one in Boston.
Fresh Pond Market

Perhaps thought more of as a convenience store than a grocery store, this place sells most of what you'd find at larger stores, but doesn't stock as much. People living nearby say this is a great stop on the way home for a bite and a beer.
Allston Food & Spirits

Not truly a grocery store, but again another place that sells food in addition to beer and wine. You can also pick up cleaning supplies here, and a plus for locales in the city? It has parking. Allston Food & Spirits also sells hard liquor.

As you could gather from its name, Formaggio Kitchen sells cheese. But what goes better with cheese than wine? The stores have an extensive wine selection and the staffs are knowledgeable and willing to help you pair a wine with either your cheese or your whole meal.
