Group Raises $100K To Reopen NH's Whaleback Ski Area
ENFIELD, N.H. (AP) — The Upper Valley Snow Sports Foundation says it has raised the first $100,000 needed to reopen New Hampshire's Whaleback Ski Area this winter.
The Valley News reports that the nonprofit group expects the mountain to open Dec. 26.
The money is the first of a $2 million capital fundraising campaign the foundation launched this month.
The mountain was more than $1 million in debt when its last owner shut it down in March. A succession of owners has run the ski area since 1955.
