Gronkowski's removal from the list was announced in the Patriots-New York Jets practice report released on Thursday.
No other changes were made for the Patriots, as players like wide receivers Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola remained limited participants.
A couple changes were made on New York's side, as defensive back Dexter McDougle (ankle) was a limited participant on Thursday after not practicing on Wednesday.
Quarterback Geno Smith (illness) also practiced Thursday after not participating in Wednesday's session.
Jets' tight end Kellen Davis was a full participant on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. He has been dealing with a back issue.
