Gresh & Zo's 2014 NFL Summer School: New York Jets

BOSTON (CBS) -  It's not your typical classroom. Theyre not your typical teachers. It's where you go after failing all year. It's Gresh & Zo's NFL Summer School on 98.5 The Sports Hub!

Andy Gresh and Scott Zolak's summer school tour rolls on and travels to Florham Park, New Jersey, where the guys educate us all and preview the 2014 season for the New York Jets.

Taking Attendance:

The J-E-T-S had a very busy offseason in free agency, including the acquisitions of former Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker, former Titans running back Chris Johnson and quarterback Michael Vick. In the draft, they most notably picked up safety Louisville safety Calvin Pryor and Texas Tech tight end Jace Amaro.

They also drafted Clemson signal caller Tajh Boyd, who joins a group of quarterbacks including Vick and Geno Smith.

Zolak: "In a perfect world the Jets would like to have Smith play. But when you go out and get Michael Vick, and make that decision to take a veteran off the bench and plug him in for a young kid that's struggling -- and the veteran does well -- that creates a rift in that locker room. The best case scenario for the Jets is to start Vick and see how it goes, and it gives Geno the ability to stand back and watch. Steve McNair didn't start right away and he was a very good quarterback in this league. Start Vick, and when things go poorly you bring in the kid."

Gresh: "They add a wide receiver in Decker, they add a middle-of-the-field presence in Amaro and have a running back in Chris Johnson that can be explosive out of the backfield. You've created an offense that can't beat you vertically, but you've got guys that have an ability to make people miss in space and force the defense to cover the whole field."

Pop Quiz:

Who wins the starting quarterback job in Week 1?

Zolak: "I've already kind of laid it out for Vick. I think Vick is your starter Week 1. Everybody is gearing it to be Geno Smith but I think a surprise is coming."

Gresh: "I think Geno Smith is going to get the nod because now they have people around him to allow him to play the way they need him to. People have mistaken that Geno Smith is a running quarterback who can throw. He's a pocket guy that can run. He's more Russell Wilson than he is Michael Vick."

Fantasy 101:

Is there any fantasy value left in Chris Johnson?

Gresh: "I think there is, but you can't put starter value on him. He's a low-end starter until he proves he can produce a little bit in that backfield. They've got Bilal Powell, Chris Ivory and they are going to rotate those backs."

How early should you look at Eric Decker in your fantasy draft?

Zolak: "He's a no. 1, but not in this offense. He's not going to have the same benefit in New York as he did in Denver."

Gresh: "Agreed, but I still think he's a top 25 fantasy receiver."

Is there anybody else draft-able on the Jets?

Gresh: "If you've got Chris Johnson you want the handcuff and have Bilal Powell too. In a defensive league you can take Muhammad Wilkerson, but I don't want anything to do with Geno Smith or Michael Vick at quarterback."

Final Grade:

Last year the Jets were .500 at 8-8 and the year before they finished 6-10. Vegas puts their over/under at 7.5 wins in 2014. Over or under? And do you think they'll make the playoffs?

Gresh: "Under. I'm going 7 wins. Obviously they will not make the playoffs. If they make the playoffs at 7-9 then the AFC has had a disastrous year."

Zolak: "Hit me! I'm going over. They'll get to 9 wins. 9-7 they sneak in backdoor in the Wild Card. They're going to be okay all year and somebody will screw up and slide back."
