Gresh & Zo's 2014 NFL Summer School: Kansas City Chiefs
BOSTON (CBS) - It's not your typical classroom. They're not your typical teachers. It's where you go after failing all year. It's Gresh and Zo's NFL Summer School on 98.5 The Sports Hub!
The guys continue to breakdown the AFC West as Andy Gresh and Scott Zolak take our summer school tour to Arrowhead Stadium, where they breakdown and preview the upcoming 2014 season for the surprise team of last year: the Kansas City Chiefs.
Taking Attendance:
The Chiefs lost offensive tackle Brandon Albert. They also lost offensive guards Geoff Schwartz and Jon Asamoah and defensive end Tyson Jackson to free agency. The Chiefs did draft wide receiver/running back De'Anthony Thomas and defensive end Dee Ford.
Gresh: "I think they are in the mode of, 'Well now we are good, we know we can play at a high level and now we get to start building this thing the way we want to."
Zolak: "We know they can score points when they want to. That lead that they had against the Colts and what transpired after that, you know as an organization you gotta ask yourself a question, 'Do you believe in Alex Smith?'"
Pop Quiz:
How much money per year should Alex Smith get in his new deal?
Gresh: "Alex Smith has won a lot of games and he's done a good job in Kansas City, but he's no more than a $13 million a year quarterback."
Zolak: "You see I was going to go $8 to $9 million. But based on numbers, he a $10-12 million guy."
Fantasy 101:
Is Jamaal Charles the surefire no. 1 overall pick and is Dwayne Bowe a good no. 2 receiver?
Gresh: "I think Bowe is okay as a no. 2 receiver on a fantasy team. Is Jamaal Charles the overall consensus no. 1 pick? I think he is in that discussion. There's no question that Jamaal Charles is in a top three mix. I can't sit here and say that he is definitively no 1. I also couldn't hammer anybody if they took him no. 1."
Zolak: "Teams within the AFC West, doesn't their game plan start with Jamaal Charles? So I'm going to buy more about that Bowe can be a good no. 2 guy. I wouldn't take Jamaal Charles no. 1 overall in fantasy."
Final Grade:
Last year the Chiefs went 11-5. The year before they went 2-14. The Vegas over/under has them at 8.5 wins. Where do they finish and do they make the playoffs?
Gresh: "I'm going to make them a 9-win team and I don't think they make the playoffs."
Zolak: "They go 9-7 and they don't make the playoffs."
