Bergeron: More Success Brings More Scrutiny

BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron joined Gresh & Zo for the first time this season.

He discussed the whirlwind offseason after winning the Stanley Cup, and also touched on this year's team.

There is much more scrutiny on the team after getting to the top of the hockey world, but the Bruins don't mind. Bergeron said he and his teammates are not ones to duck accountability, and that played a big part in winning it all last season.

"We have to be the same way. It has to be. That's how we found a way to win; being accountable for our own actions," said Bergeron. "It hasn't changed and we have to keep it the same way."

Bergeron also commended Tyler Seguin for making such a big jump in his second year, a lot of which has to do with confidence.

"He's been playing with a lot of confidence," Bergeron said of Seguin. "I remember after my first year coming into my second, you get that confidence, you know what to expect. You prepare yourself differently to that, and I feel he's doing that. He got ready over the summer, he knew what to expect, and obviously he did something I didn't; he won a Stanley Cup. He learned how to win. That makes him a much better player."

Bergeron also touched on the Bruins Power Play, which is off to a slow start. The B's are just 1-for-18 with the man advantage, and Bergeron thinks they are pressing too much.

"We're forcing plays a little too much," said Bergeron. "Where we should probably put the puck on net, go for the rebound, get an ugly one right away. Get that monkey off our back and go from there."

"It's better. But obviously not good enough because we're not scoring," he said.
