Gresh & Zo: Should The Celtics Retire Kevin Garnett's Number?
BOSTON (CBS) - The Celtics probably will retire Kevin Garnett's number, but Andy Gresh and Scott Zolak wonder if he is truly worthy of the honor.
On Sunday as members of the Brooklyn Nets, both Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett returned to Boston in what was an emotional night for the two players, everyone in attendance and for those watching at home.

A pair of separate tribute videos for each player were shown towards the end of the first quarter, and at the conclusion of the highlights the camera flashed to the retired jersey banner with two open spots - an indication that one day #5 and #34 will grace the TD Garden rafters.
Paul Pierce is a no-brainer, but KG is up for debate, according to Gresh and Zo.
"Pierce, to me, is a legend since my time here," said Scott Zolak Monday morning. "To see Pierce get drafted here, grow up here and transform is special. I have an appreciate for Pierce, but Garnett seems like a guy you brought in to win a championship and that's it."
When Gresh thinks of Kevin Garnett he sees him for his time in Minnesota first, and then as a Celtic. For that reason alone it can't be such a slam dunk decision.
"When you think about Paul Pierce he's an automatic Celtic first, but Kevin Garnett you have to put some thought into it. I know the Boston Celtics might be the most liberal organization on earth when it comes to retiring names and numbers - they are very loose with it. As much as KG had a great run, is it automatic? I mean we're talking about six years here," said Gresh.

Speaking on 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich show, Gorman said, "Paul is special, and his number goes up no matter what. With Kevin, I think there's a debate. I think the debate leans toward yes, but you can't lump those two together. I would tend to put Kevin more with Ray [Allen]."
