Gresh & Zo: Patriots Put 'Fun Beat Down' On Texans
The New England Patriots are back in the AFC Championship game, and will take on a familiar foe next Sunday at Gillette Stadium.
But before we start talking about the Baltimore Ravens, Gresh & Zolak opened Monday's show recapping the Patriots 41-28 win over the Houston Texans, and the resilience New England showed after losing both Rob Gronkowski and Danny Woodhead after just two series into the game.
"When we talk about coaching, and it can be overblown, but when you have a game plan and parts of your offense that is designed for Gronk and Woodhead, and they get hurt (after the first two drives) and you have to start over, basically everything you worked on for a week or longer, is thrown out the window. For this team to be composed, prepared and confident in what they're running... that's why this organization is where they're at and so well-respected in the NFL," said Gresh. "For them to blow it up in the mid-way through the first quarter and do what they did, that's the most amazing thing that happened yesterday."
The Patriots defense once again held the Texans in check, and as Gresh points out, is not the same defensive unit that had fans complaining in late October and early November.
But now the Patriots will have to face off against a very motivated Ravens team, a veteran bunch that is much different from the Texans they just dispatched.
"Last week you played boys, this week you play a bunch of men," said Zolak. A bunch of men that have the full-well belief they can come here and not have fake-bravado like the Texans had."
