Gresh & Zo: More Concern Over Patriots Offense Or Defense?

While many were predicting the Patriots to come out Sunday and blowout the New York Jets, that simply wasn't the case as New England let another fourth quarter lead slip away in their 29-26 overtime win.

98.5 The Sports Hub's Gresh & Zolak wonder how concerned Patriots fans should be about their team, despite sitting atop the AFC East with a 4-3 record.

"I don't know which side of the ball to fret over more; the defense of the offense," said Gresh.

"The defense got off the schnide there at the end; they got the stops when they had to," said Zo. "I think the glaring one on defense is the secondary. With (Patrick) Chung, (Steve) Gregory being out, the move of (Devin) McCourty to safety is out of necessity. It's almost out of panic mode where you don't have two rookies in Nate Ebner and Wilson back there in any shape or form."

Leftover Thoughts: Simply Surviving Doesn't Lead To A Super Bowl

"Alfonzo Dennard, as an undersized rookie, is your best corner right now, with McCourty at safety," added Zo.

"You can look at the secondary and scream about their breakdowns, but there are more breakdowns across the board leading to the issues: a guard missing a block, a guy not making a catch, someone getting a stupid penalty. It's not just one consistent thing leading to these fourth quarter meltdowns. Every phrase of the game is contributing," said Gresh.

Patriots-Jets: 4 Ups, 4 Downs

"The inefficiencies on offense add to the glaring mistakes on defense," adds Zo. "If they're scoring when they should be, you can call things differently on defense and take a couple more risks, because you're playing out and front."
