Gresh & Zo: Ortiz Shows Tremendous Leadership With Players-Only Meeting
Gresh & Zo opened Monday's show talking about the report of a players only meeting inside the Red Sox clubhouse a couple of weeks ago. Did David Ortiz calling out the pitchers help turn around the season for Boston?
"At least on the outside, it looks like it had a very tangible effect on this baseball team," Andy Gresh said. "That's not a good job by David Ortiz -- that is a phenomenal job by David Ortiz to get 'em in the room, and even if they had to air it out, let everybody be nasty to each other. Let everybody get it out and over with, and then they can start to move on. And if there's one personality in that room who has the ability to lighten the mood a little bit, to let everybody bicker at each other, to let them get it out, and then try to turn around and channel it in a positive way, he might be the best guy personality-wise equipped to do that."
